Beaus$Eros is an interesting experiment. Busdriver is capable, obviously, in multiple genres, and has the restless, omnivorous kind of creativity that sees links between disparate styles.

Like Zappa, Busdriver's creativity means that for every brilliant track he records there will be several tracks that are just plain weird, and Beaus$Eros is no exception.
  3. Mar 13, 2012

Beaus$Eros yields some positive results while laying the foundation for some interesting future projects.
  4. Feb 21, 2012

    Beaus$Eros is fringe listening.

  1. I interviewed Busdriver for another site about a year and a half ago when this album was still basically in the fetal stage of development, which means i've been waiting at least that long to hear Beaus $ Eros. In true Busdriver fashion, this album is full of surprises. 2011 and 2012 seem to be the era of singing rappers, and I would much rather hear Busdriver's unique disco DJ-like voice emphasize each consonant in the beautiful nightmare of "Kiss Me Back to life" over any auto-tuned hiphop artist out there right now. There's less of his signature speed rap on this album, but no short supply of the intelligent and hilarious lyrics that have become a hallmark of his rhyme. Expand
