Feb 19, 2012Because Of The Times is King of Leon's best album. The music doesn't have as much of a pop flavor as their previous efforts, but a raw rock sound that's different from anything they've done. This is kind of a turning point for them, unfortunately from here they took the wrong path.

Jun 9, 2015This one is a great record. It has lots of influences, some of them more recent than others, but in the end the songwriting is great and the swagger is high in the more "rock" tracks (ex. Charmer).
-
Oct 10, 2010best album of the decade. enough said.

Sep 17, 2010Kings of leon changed their style for the better. They're half hard rock half soft rock style finally works on this record. My problem with old KOL was that theyre slower songs lacked feeling and were ultimitly boring.'Arizona' and 'The Runner' are highlights on this terrific album
-
Oct 21, 2010Arizona is one of the best songs I have ever heard, just one of the many highlights on this album. Big change in the kings sound in this album but it works perfectly.
-
Oct 30, 2013Without doubt kings of Leon's best piece of work. The album kicks off with the epic knocked up, seven and half minutes of jaw dropping music. This album blends kings of Leon's new massive sound with their old southern roots. A great album from start to finish.

ArjenDMay 8, 2007Much, much better than their first two records. I didn't like them at all but Because of the Times is really wonderful! It is stuck on my iPod at the moment.

StevenH.Mar 8, 2008A little more up-and-down than most albums, but when it's up it's pretty damn catchy. Solid effort.

TPMar 29, 2007Absolutely nothing to be disappointed about here. A Classic.

jdApr 3, 2007I admit, I was mislead by the music they have posted on MySpace. This album is refreshing. Straight up, head nodding beats. Great vocals. More good songs than bad. The song "Fans" is one of my new fave. songs.

JamieSep 6, 2007The year is rapidly coming to a close and it's my favorite of the year too - and I hadn't owned anything of theirs previously and went out and bought all of it on the strength of this.

ArteFeb 3, 2008Has it's ups and downs like any CD and it certainly can't touch their marvellous debut, but a superb offerng nonetheless. Some fans of the band might not appreciate the new direction, but most Rock'n'Rollers will enjoy this one.

OzzLMar 6, 2009Possibly their best album to date. Shame the sales weren't what they deserved to be. The first half of the album is rocky and aggressive. The second half of the album is mature and musically brilliant. On the whole a good album.

TB2Mar 29, 2007Great album. A little more matured for the more matured rock your socks off listener. I believe "Filter" magazine had it right with "This is meat and 'taters rock mixed with the Devil's blood." Good stuff and mixes well with Black Crowes, Drive-by-Truckers, etc.

JonathanE.Mar 30, 2007I was surprised by this record. I liked their last record "Aha Shake Heartbreak", it had a few great songs but it was a bit unfocused and not quite all the way there. With "Because of the Times" Kings of Leon have finally arrived delivering a cohesive album full of brilliant songs. Great vocals, great guitar playing, and great mood throughout.

JoachimHMar 31, 2007This is by far the best album of 2007! Caleb have not sounded better for years, and the rest of the band swings so cool. This bad-ass-rock-n-roll-album is a must for every fan of Jet, The Fratellis, The Vines or just for fans of good rock. The best number is the amazing single "On Call", and i strongly recommend this album to everyone!

JosephAApr 11, 2007Wow, I thought their last album was complete crap with hints of promise and I absolutely was not interested in hearing their new one. Well, thank god I gave it a shot!! Those hints of promise have blossomed in a massive way, the album is excellent.

Gina.PApr 10, 2007This album is definitely a 10. You would have never expected it from them. It's emotional and rough at the same time. Like a jam session with emotion. Amazing, you should all listen.

tonySApr 1, 2007i enjoy alot of the songs, but think the score is a bit to high, id say it deserves about a 65-70, not at all a bad album, then again perhaps it needs to just grow on me. I do know one thing for sure, "charmer", the yelling is flat out annoying.

-
RubSApr 1, 2007It's awesome - don't like a few moments on the songs, but it is still pretty cool!

-
JimmyTApr 17, 2007Because of the time is an awe-inspiring album, a step up from the already high-flying Aha Shake Heartbreak. White this release Kings of Leon prove they are more than a one trick pony and pave their ways to rock superstardom

-
AricApr 2, 2007A more focused album by a brilliant band on the verge of a great career! 'Kings' have a sound that is a complex mix of many influences too often pigeon-holed as Southern Rock. Listen to tracks like "On Call", " Knocked Up", "Ragoo" and my personal favorite "McFearless" and you will hear music from a band too young for this amount of scope.

Awards & Rankings
-
If less accessible on first hearing than its predecessors, the result is an epic wide-screen movie of a CD and the band's best to date.
-
Although it's stylistically diverse, the album feels coherent.
-
Kings of Leon often seem torn between their stadium rawk impulses and their hip underground aspirations.
