  • Summary: Rapper 50 Cent's backing posse attempts to capitalize on the runaway success of their leader's 'Get Rich or Die Tryin' with this, their own debut LP (which does indeed feature 50 Cent on each and every track).
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 6 out of 11
  2. Negative: 2 out of 11
  1. 50 Cent's star appeal and the other member's solid skills make Beg For Mercy a solid debut album.
  2. Rarely has rampant misogyny and self-hype sounded as fantastic as this.
  3. Stronger than most star-fronted posse records.
  4. Beg for Mercy doesn't measure up to Get Rich or Die Tryin', but then, how many rap albums do?
  5. Mostly, it's tight but standard. [Jan 2004, p.114]

A pale retread of Get Rich... fashioned by lesser talents. [Feb 2004, p.69]

TONY YAYO WASN'T IN THE ALBUM BECAUSE HE WAS INCARCERATED. The 2 tracks he is on were recorded earliers in his career before jail. This is the sickest CD out right now besides 50 Cent's and Lloyd Banks'. Young Buck's album "Straight Outta Ca$hville" will be even better than this I think. Stunt 101 was the excellent single from this album, and G'D Up is a seriously underrated and unknown song. It was pure genius. This is the sickest album ever created!!! Expand

I bought this album after hearing 50s really good singles from Get Rich or Die Tryin. This was a bit of a let down. If you do not like rap do I bought this album after hearing 50s really good singles from Get Rich or Die Tryin. This was a bit of a let down. If you do not like rap do not go near this album. However if you do some of the tracks are really good - popping them thangs - but there is not that catchy background music just rapping. Expand
