The power-electronics attack of Prurient's past remains at the core of the album, particularly in the serrated, disembodied title track. Even at its most blunt and abusive, though, there's a dynamic subtlety and blown-out ambience that lulls sanity to the brink, then dangles it there.
  2. Uncut

It remains a somewhat foreboding listen, but one compelling in the intensity of its vision. [Aug 2011, p.97]
  3. Aug 5, 2011

Bermuda Drain is, from the off, a massive step forward for Prurient.
  4. Jul 26, 2011
    70
He has the sound down, somewhere between Factory Records sturm-und-drag and grotty old VHS-tape slasher soundtracks, but you could never accuse Bermuda Drain of being a slick or faceless attempt at mere nostalgia.
  5. The Wire
    Aug 17, 2011
    70
The bold accessibility and nostalgic tone of Bermuda Drain is a surprise. [Jul 2011, p.60]
  6. Jul 26, 2011

Bermuda Drain bears the influence of Fernow's recent work with gloom-pop monger Wesley Eisold of Cold Cave. Synths dominate: crystalline, graceful and clean.
  7. Jul 26, 2011
    60
Despite any missteps, Bermuda Drain is laudable simply for its willingness to branch out and discover new ways of expression.
