Blissed-out analogue synths, the swell and drone of ambient rock and epic, beatless, drawn-out melodies characterize the debut. [Aug. 2011, p. 104]
  2. Jul 28, 2011

Safe to say, it's one reassuringly cosmic listening experience. [August 2011, p. 113]

There's nothing blank, or bland for that matter, about it.

The fact that it turned out quite well makes that fact that much more satisfying, and elevates the album above mere curiosity to a possible road sign pointing towards Fuck Buttons' future material.

Listening to this album suggests a universe of unheard information beyond the reach of understanding and perception, of phenomena both too brief and too enormous for us to comprehend.
  6. While I don't understand a lot of the decisions made on this record, it is still undeniably an exhibition of some of the best sonic control and sound shaping around.

Despite the promising influences and the strong pedigree, essentially all that Blanck Mass offers is a distorted, unusual take on new age music, and while interesting in small doses, it makes for a long, repetitive slog over the course of an hour.
