blink-182 - blink-182
blink-182 Image
  • Summary: Definitely not your typical blink-182 album, this eponymous release finds the once-juvenile band finally showing a mature side, and winning critics over in the process. The Cure's Robert Smith guests on one track.
Score distribution:

  1. Despite their newfound earnestness, [blink] seem incapable of pretension. [21 Nov 2003, p.82]
  2. 40
The heart of the album sticks closely to their well-tried formula: sing-song melodies and puerile lyrics set against a steady backdrop of numbingly bland riffage. [Jan 2004, p.106]
  3. Someone should put Blink 182 out of their misery.

Perfect album. All the songs are amazing. Tom Delonge and Mark Hoppus are the best at what they do in their genre. Travis Barker is the worlds best drummer. This album is a lot more insightful and serious than their other work, but could be their best material. Fav songs: asthenia, go, and feeling this. Expand

  3. What the hell happened?! Going for a more "adult" sound may have worked for Green Day, but even with the help of Robert Smith, this still sounds boring. Blink-182 used to take so much pride in their immaturity (as I do), so I can't imagine why they would go for a sudden turn such as this. I felt like I could take them seriously when they wanted the listener to in previous albums (like in "Adam's Song" and "Anthem Part Two"), but in this album it just sound forced. This is still one of my favorite bands, but this is just mindblowingly awful. And the love songs make me want to puke. Expand
