Despite retaining a relaxed, lightly psychedelic feel, Blondes' songs are properly functionalist grooves.

Take any of these tracks on its own, or even as half of a single, and it is impressive and striking. Listen to seven of them in succession, though, and you slowly notice they all sort of blur together.

The Blondes' expansive synth jams can sometimes feel a little directionless. [Mar 2012, p.81]

Hypnotic electronic grooves. [April 2012, p.90]
  5. Poignant package-holiday dance, sun-drunk but urgent with passion.

If you like your music with the psychedelic layers of The Field and subtle atmospherics of Joy Orbison, Blondes have so much to give.

Music this agreeable and well-produced may not leave the most potent aftertaste, but it still makes for a sweet listen without veering into the saccharine.

You're probably not going to find another record quite so beautifully produced this year, or quite so warmly inviting, or just quite so full of lovely stuff.

A thoroughly good larksome house record.

Overall, while Blondes' debut album isn't quite as dynamic as the EP, it still serves its purpose as a notable standout from the upstart duo.

    A singularly impressive work.

The results, all shimmering synths and echo effects noodle along on 4/4, often for the best part of seven minutes, and we can't help but feel that some of this has been done before.

The meandering, incidental quality of their music works alternately in their favor and against them.
