While this is an album aimed squarely at diehard metalheads, it’s also an imperious display of succinct songwriting that bulges with moments of refined catchiness...albeit of the variety that also seeks to shatter your jaw.

Although "My Last Nerve" also falls victim to mid-tempo meandering, the remainder of the album serves as some of the best thrash from thrash's best band, who sound like they play their music with a shit-eating grin and a machete hidden behind their backs.

Blood In, Blood Out, much like Cannibal Corpse's 2014 offering Skeletal Domain, sounds remarkably dialed-in for a band so long in the tooth, and while it doesn't break any new ground for the stalwart rockers, it certainly does little to tarnish their reputation as thrash royalty.

It's all business as usual for Exodus, but business is still good. [11 Oct 2014, p.53]
