  • Summary: The band that gave us alt-radio hit "6 Underground" returns with a third album, although their second (1999's 'Splinter') failed to secure U.S. distribution. Guitarist Chris Corner now handles lead vocals, replacing the departed Kelli Dayton.

  1. The band continues with a strong electronic feel without compromising the integrity of good, raw musicianship.

The crunchy guitars that underpinned some of the tracks on X are now up front, giving the whole collection the feel of early Manchester bands like Happy Mondays. [Feb 2002, p.74]

Save for a few heavy-handed tracks, such as the lame religion-as-porn clunker "Blue Movie" and the drag of "Loreta Young Silks," the disc offers a satisfyingly rich aural texture.

Once a trip-hop outfit with a female singer, [Sneaker Pimps are] now a mopey synth-pop quartet aimed at everyone's hidden goth teen. [3 May 2002, p.88]

Has only occasional flashes of inspiration. [Jan 2002, p.107]
  6. Further success should elude them. That, it seems, is firmly restricted to the past.

Sounds like a watered-down Pearl Jam spiked with a drum machine and a couple of extra synths. [Feb 2002, p.123]

One of the most underrated albums of all time. It blends trip-hop, alternative rock, and pop masterfully.

After the highly known Debut Trip Hop Album "BecomingX" two more cd´s were released arround the Millenium Year. From this sprang some absolutely wonderful songs in Electro-Alternative Rock-Dance style with extraordinary, soul-breaking, self reflecting lyrics like as a ghost of Kurt Cobain &Co. "Bloodsport" was one of it. I love it, just like the predecessor "Splinter". I always whish me a remaster of this two CDs Expand

I love this record. It's even better than their first two. The beats and sound effects are really interesting, if not entirely original. I love this record. It's even better than their first two.
