This is an album that is simply, in the most awe-inspired sense of the term, absolutely golden from end to end – a real treasure and an utter delight to experience every time you play it.

In 2006, it seemed like Beach House couldn't outlive Beach House. In 2012, Bloom is the bar to clear.

They have crafted an album that feels very much like the score for an imaginary film--an avant-garde French film, to be precise, an extended nocturne encompassing romance and its aftermath, the inexorable passage of time, and the preciousness of the fleeting moment. [Jun 2012, p.81]

Bloom is one of those rare records that skirt close to perfection, an effortless and intriguing listen that can't help but drag a more significant audience into Bloom's orbit. [Jun 2012, p.98]

The melodies, guitarscapes and thrift-shop organ swells make for exquisite comfort.

It all makes for a lovely lullaby of an album, but it just doesn't result in many songs.

Pleasantly undemanding for a few tracks, the album just seems to evaporate away halfway through, as if even its creators couldn't retain interest in it, either.

Beach House has continually progressed dropping weak points and refining the positive points. It culminates in this masterpiece, "Bloom". It really grabs me emotionally particularly on the second half of the album. This is so much more than pretty melodies and rhythms. The entire album is meticulously crafted. It holds up to severe scrutiny. There is no fluff. It is a nearly flawless record from beginning to end. Expand

Everything is so perfect that almost touches unreal. Just being short of competing the best albums this year which are still Perfume Genius, The Menzingers and Anais Mitchell. Critics whose scores are below 70 should just be ashamed of what they have written. "The Hours" and more-than-8 minutes long "Irene" are the highlights of the album to me. Expand

Bloom is like watching a film, with no picture, you'll want to sit all the way through it, and building up to the album's finale, "Irene", you've sat through the best record of 2012. It's the band's finest. boldest and strongest work to date. Beach House has yet again, topped it's predecessor. Expand

I have to say that I really didnt enjoy Beach House's first two albums when they came out, but I really thoroughly enjoyed Teenage Dream. IfI have to say that I really didnt enjoy Beach House's first two albums when they came out, but I really thoroughly enjoyed Teenage Dream. If you enjoyed that album, then you will also enjoy this one as it sounds very similar...which could be a good thing or a bad thing. Otherwise one of the best albums, if not slightly unoriginal, that I have heard thus far this year. Expand
