Just a fun album. It's no K.I.D.S, but it's pretty cool. The one thing that stands out about this album is Under the Weather, one of my favorite songs of all time. The instrumentation and that relaxed feel is great.

It's a very decent album regarding his age.
His lyrics circle somewhat around the same stuff all the time though, making it lack a bit of creativity, couple tracks on this album also being pretty much nothing mindblowing instrumentally-wise either. But how much can you dive into the topic of youth anyways? The relatability of the lyrics semms like one of the key things in my eyes. Him

But how much can you dive into the topic of youth anyways? The relatability of the lyrics semms like one of the key things in my eyes. Him rapping about being young, partying, smoking weed, skipping school on occasion including maybe some sad times in-between represents this youthfulness and joy that is once so ever nice to see in music. Living an easy life instead of always craving the deeper meaning, that is what this album reflects to me and I don't see anything bad in that. (This doesn't mean that I dislike other albums that do question the deeper meaning of things in life and life itself, but rather that I enjoy some variety)

Blue slide park is a mess simple as that. The album is all over the place, it doesn't even feel like an album just a compilation of fun songs. This album really shows how mac didn't know his sound just yet. Looking back on it I don't think any song had much meaning at all, and it left me wondering what the album was even about. It's a solid introductory album with few misses but also very few standout tracks. Good album, nothing less or more.

This album is like his mixtapes, except personally I feel the highs are just not nearly as high as Best Day Evers or K.I.D.S. It's fun. Some slick rhymes and cool beats. It's "high quality low quality" music. But it's pre high quality, high quality music that Mac would create over the 8 years after his debut.

Blue Slide Park has its ups and downs. If you're looking for old school Mac, you'll get bits and pieces. Blue Slide Park seems like a very experimental album filled with various music genres.

His flow and beats are good as they were in the past, but this album as with lots of artists like Wiz Khalifa or Big Sean, is very shallow and present no serious points. I miss albums that have a purpose and a certain message. It seems like all he cares about are weed and partying, which aren't all the most important things in life.

Mac Miller is all about being a fun-loving kid and giving off that impression, and with such a debut as "Blue Slide Park," you truly would hope he keeps that image going. Good news: he does. Bad news: he doesn't do anything else. Sure, his flow is smooth and soft, yet encapsulating over the right production, but there lies the problem; the right production. Good news: he does. Bad news: he doesn't do anything else. Sure, his flow is smooth and soft, yet encapsulating over the right production, but there lies the problem; the right production. It almost feels that, throughout the album, he's missing opportunities left and right to bring back that kiddish feeling of doing things you weren't supposed to, but instead, he's skating all over the cliche lines, all of which we've heard many times before in many other more intriguing ways. This album isn't without its moments of happiness, though. "Party On Fifth Ave." is the one hit off the record that not only recalls hip-hop of old (it samples DJ Kool's "Let Me Clear My Throat"), but injects a new, fresh head-nod of a track. Oddly enough, although it has difficulties capturing manic adolescence, the 30-second instrumental "Hole in The Pocket" really hit me hard, for as I listened to it, I reminisced back into my childhood days of playing outside with friends, and wishing I had it all back. For that sole reason, I thank Mac. Expand

K.I.D.S and Watching Movies with the Sound Off is much better than Blue Slide Park. Props to the production though, it is really good. As a MC, he isn't really that special. Mac sounds like he isn't finding his style here until he released Watching Movies.

This album is terrible. The only good thing about this album is the production and the beats. They are very good but what ruins them is Mac Miller. He is a bad rapper, and he does a bad job being one.

I honestly can't believe what the problem of all of you is! Mac Miller is one of the most talented rappers at this time and I'd name him as one of the 3 best rappers ever in terms of rhyming. He's got a big gift of oratory and also if he is no real storyteller, he's also well at expressing himself. The beats and the hooks are pretty great, the only real downside of this record is that his breathing is heard too heavy, at least in my opinion. But his party songs are absolutely great and I absolutely love the way he rhymes. It's probably only something for hip-hop fans but if you are one, you should definitely listen to Blue Slide Park. I'm giving this an 8. Mac Miller has a unique style. There are a few songs that I'm not too crazy about but the album itself is an overall success. Mac Miller topped the debut charts at number one! Anything below a 7 is just being one sided.

Nice debut from a 19 year old. I'm glad that it debut at number 1 and the second independent album to do so. Good solid production and nice lyrics. Can he do better on his second album?

I'm giving this a 3 purely for the solid production. Mac Miller is honestly one of the worst rappers i've heard in my life. Please name me one track that he has where he says anything that is slightly substantive. Its okay to make "fun" rap songs but this album is just downright terrible. The only people i can see liking this are loyal fans of his.

Blue Slide Park ends up a charm-bereft everyman hip hop record merely ticking boxes required to shift units.

Ultimately I have two complaints about Blue Slide Park which in the grand scheme of things may be minor.
