  1. Young Guns are vastly talented and laden with armfuls of potential. One listen to Bones proves that.

Tauter, tighter and leaner, it's at its best when epic choruses collide with soaring guitars. [Mar 2012, p.105]

Young Guns may have pushed themselves to the edge to create Bones, but the end result confirms the hard work was more than worth it.

While it contains next to no filler, includes a sufficient amount of enjoyable anthems, and is musically accomplished (Ben Jolliffe's drums are especially impressive, the dual guitar attack is competent and the sparingly used keys are wise), Bones is predominantly a consolidatory release.

A solid improvement from "All Our Kings Are Dead" but they will need to do more if they want to break into the big time.

You eventually wish they'd give the stadium anthems a rest and be more of that small band from High Wycombe.

Bones is undeniably still a solid follow-up that should consolidate their second-tier status, but they'll have to change the record next time around if they want to move into U.K.'s alt-metal big league.
