Better than I expected! Let me just say if you are a Wilco/Phish/retro rock fan, you will like this album, which goes between pop and fun, quirky rock. Plus, it will increase your vocabulary.

"the ruling class" when played by jeff tweedy sans loose fur is remeniscent of a young bob dylan humoring audiences with songs like "talkin' world war III blues".

Surprisingly, "Born Again In The USA" is less experimental than "Loose Fur" (or even Wilco's "A Ghost Is Born") but is more of a fully formed album than their debut. With most of the songs clocking in at around 3 minutes, and packed full of hooks, riffs and catchy melodies, this is certainly not a group of rock stars indulging themselves on sub-standard songs. This album deserves serious consideration in its own right. Expand

This album almost felt like a collection of songs that never made it on to a Wilco or O'Rourke album, but were nonetheless sexy and seductive enough to attract listeners. One song, however, tops every Wilco song i have heardl; "Wreckroom." Its so dense with cooleness I love it so much...the build up and fall which is common in so many Wilco songs, but this song feels homey and grandiose at the same time. Gold Expand

A really solid bunch of songs. This album rips all over 'a ghost is born', and is easily equal to the bands original release. Excellent arrangements, nicely played, and always intersting!

  1. A modest but consistently satisfying affair, rich in music and message.
  2. It's more coherent [than its predecessor] by a mile. It's longer, and its group songwriting blends better. [20 Mar 2006]
  3. Born Again in the USA is playful, proggy, and built for black lights.
