  1. This cuts back significantly on winding jams, upping the ante with tight songs and performances, a clean muscular production, and a lack of vocal histrionics from Popper
  2. What's always lifted them above their peers are Popper's percussive harmonica and those wonderfully melodic songs -- both of which are abundant here. [6/1/01, p.90]

Rather than dwell on tragedy or sulk through an album of moodier blues, they deliver a batch of radio-friendly tunes reminiscent of their commercial breakthrough, Four.
  4. The members of Blues Traveler, new and old, still play better than they write songs, but there's no denying that the group's indefatigable spirit remains engaging.
  5. Their songwriting sometimes comes up short, but these avatars of the Nineties jam-band movement know they can placate their fans with a little showboating.
  6. On Bridge, they're still traveling down the long and winding improvisational road, with most of the tracks averaging around five minutes in length (as is true with most of their studio albums). This time out, though, the songs feel like they're twice that.

In attempting to be energetic, the band merely sounds busy. [Jun/Jul 2001, p.105]
  8. The real crime is that these guys are good musicians who happen to have horrible taste.

This album kicks ass. I think it's sad that we live in a time where **** ass boy bands, pseudo-breasted pop star wanna-be girls who can't sing and sucky ass bands such as Match Box 20 and that God forsaken band The Offspring are considered artists who produce good music. Long live truly gifted musicians such as the ones who maintain Blues Traveler. They are the real future of music. Full Review »
