Capo is scattered and scrappy, which for Jones is a comfortable landscape where oddball, sprawling, day-in-the-life numbers can sit next to stay-on-the-grind tracks, and Black Eyed Peas-parodies with no apologies required.

The chaotic Capo, his fifth solo album, is often successful in spite of itself.

If "Capo" is any indication of where Jones is headed in 2011 it's the first time in a while I can say that I'm looking forward to his next album.

It maintains a musical energy intense enough to fuel a good party, yet throws in just enough of a dash of introspect to remind listeners that behind Jim Jones' exotic cars, empty bottles left behind at VIP tables, penchant for the drug business, and platoon of fly females, the man still has a heart.

    Dipset's gruff second-in-command serves up a new set of drugged-up hustler tunes. [15 Apr 2011, p. 87]

Beats were good, tracks were put together well and a lot of good features especially Raekwon and Game, proves what Jones can do when he isn't babbling about absolute horse sh*t. Obviously there is a fair slice of crap here but it's heavily outweighed by stellar tracks. Overall worth a few good listens and I would recomend to anyone who hates Jimmy as much as I did before this album. Maybe this Dipset reunion could be a good thing after all.... Expand
