Serengeti's drawling, pregnant-pause- filled flow is one to remember.
  2. Anticon minimalist Odd Nosdam provides all the beats Geti needs, and when your mind wanders, quite often the music alone carries you along.

This latest ventures proves equally unconventional [as his collaboration with Sufjan Stevens and his Kenny Dennis EP], the half-hour running time and Cohn's deadbeat rhymes both at odds with the rap mainstream. [Sep 2012, p.111]

Any fans of mainstream hip hop, probably wouldn't touch this with a 20 foot pole. But fans of Def Jux, Anticon, even some Rhymesayers will definitely see the appeal of Geti's lyricism and storytelling.

There's a positive, loose, and improvised feeling that runs throughout, but altogether, C.A.R. can feel a little unfinished in parts.

C.A.R. is an excellent, devastating record, a chronicle of the amiable pessimism and occasional nihilism of a rapping Bukowski who can't seem to find a way out of the condition in which he finds himself.

On C.A.R., Cohn finds a loophole to get one of those rad concepts out of just that: a depressive who longs for suburban utopia.
