There is nothing revolutionary about Cayamo but as an example of what world class performers can knock out on their holiday it can’t be beaten.

This delightful album revisits artists that Miller recorded during cruises in 2014 and 2015.

This is a quiet collection of songs that blends together seamlessly, the way so many Miller-related albums do, the sound of a master musician in command of the material and able to let the music take its own course to greatness.

Like many a good party, you wish it would have last longer (the other minor qualm is that there isn’t a mention of when the specific songs were recorded).

Cayamo Sessions at Sea works best as a commercial for the ocean-going festival, but it also offers glimpses of some very talented artists crossing paths and sounding like fans, as well as musicians, as they make their way through some songs they clearly love.

It’s hard to shake the nagging notion that this hews too closely to a classy, not-so-subtle advertisement enticing more customers onto future trips. Despite those reservations (pun intended), there is enough wonderful music here for even landlubbing Americana fans to enjoy.
  7. 60
There are longueurs--even Shawn Colvin can’t retrieve the Stones’ turgid Wild Horses--but it’s an enjoyable showcase of vocal talent.
