Clothesdrop seamlessly blends Shaggy's sharpest pop sensibilities with his (much slept-on) roughneck pedigree. [Nov 2005, p.147]
  2. You only have to do a little trimming to make Clothes Drop one of his best.
  3. A typically canny and diverse selection: bona fide dancehall cuts interspersed with hooky pop.

Shaggy has one of the most grating voices in pop. [Oct 2005, p.143]

Maybe he should lose the monotonous, low-rent beats and banal-hook girls (and boys). [23 Sep 2005, p.87]

Musically and lyrically, "Clothes Drop" is more pop-oriented, melodic and restrained, and is all the brighter for it. [24 Sep 2005]

DON'T let that deter you from buying this record when there's already the turgid monotony of Shaggy's voice, the godawfully repetitive production and the tired, boring subject matter to do that for you. The fact that the guest spots are always the (underwhelming) highlights of the songs doesn't do much for it either. Full Review »

All music is a carefully marketed product. People can't make music if nobody will buy it, after all.
