  • Summary: This is the Leeds, England indie-rock band's first American LP release in four years. Akin to recent Radiohead, this disc incorporates experimental electronica elements, and also adds guest vocals from members of hip-hop outfit cLOUDDEAD.

  1. Uniformly excellent.... Few, if any, British bands are making music quite like this right now.
  2. Takes the scattered clicks and beats of Autechre and combines it with the tunefulness of Spiritualized.... Very rewarding.
  3. With Cold House, Hood provide evidence that their time in the sun is long overdue. [Dec 2001, p.84]
  4. 80
Experimental hip-hop and moppish guitar pop *can* go hand in hand. [#90, p.118]
  5. Tender melodies, modern scrapes and traditional beauty merge into a gently unfolded whole that touches the soul with its silky aesthetics.
  6. 80
A hypnotic dream-map of astral drift and spac-age chamber music, textured jazztronica and technoid pulse. [Dec 2001, p.106]
  7. Elegant, downbeat orchestral pop songs.

Easily one of the best records I've heard in the last few years. This will be a classic compared to others, such as Slint's Spiderland and Talk Talk's Laughing Stock! Everyone must own this record! Expand

Indeed a modern pastoral masterpiece a la Talk Talk's Laughing Stock and PJ's Is This Desire?

Not as good as Radiohead Kid A or The Notwist Neon Golden (albums with similar glitch elctronica fused in) but still a great listen and one of the best albums of 2001. Expand

Fantastically overrated! Pompous. Their early stuff is much better.
