Much like on their previous US release, Northern Exposure 3, Communicate witnesses Sasha and Digweed stringing together some of trance's more delicate and subdued tracks, but this time with more variety and dancefloor sensibility. [Sept. 2000, p.110]

It's about as close as someone can come to hearing what they sound like at Twilo without visiting the club.
  3. Rather than moving through a broad palette of sounds, moods, tempos, and styles, the two British DJs choose to remain consistent, signaling the development of a signature style and a certain sense of confidence.
  4. Communicate's energy level lags in places, trying to make up for in quantity what it lacks in consistent quality.

So, it hurts to say it, but the duo's newest collection, Communicate, isn't that great. And the problem is simple: the flow is screwy.... the album, while not without a few stellar moments, is ultimately a let-down.
  6. Sasha and Digweed appear to be suggesting that, along with setting an NYC club aflame, they can also bore you to tears in your living room.
  7. Instead of luminous horizons of color and virtual travel, Communicate is stalled in a monochrome world of dead beats, chintzy melodies and anticlimactic climaxes.

At first seemingly bland, but after repeated listenings I found an intriguing subtlety to this mix.

While admitably not their best album, I definately enjoy listening to it 5 yrs later, especially when driving through the forest at night.

No matter how hard I tried, this mix just continued to fall flat. No memorable anthems or epic journeys?... c'mon, that's this No matter how hard I tried, this mix just continued to fall flat. No memorable anthems or epic journeys?... c'mon, that's this duo's staple! Really the only bland mix these 2 have ever put out; everything else is brilliant. Expand
