The songs chronicle wrecked relationships from all sides, with Sweeney usually coming out on the losing end.
  2. Oct 5, 2011
This Texas-bred singer knows how to convey heartfelt and complex emotions with one clever turn of a phrase.
  3. Aug 22, 2011
Sweeney just gets the economy of country songwriting and the presence that the best country singers possess, and that innate understanding makes Concrete a tremendous, heady record.
  4. 80
The album is a winning mix of traditional and contemporary: her arrangements are often performed with pedal steel and electric guitar, and the age-old problems of infidelity and heavy drinking are represented with modern twists.
  5. Jan 18, 2012
Concrete is modern and polished, yet makes no attempt to disguise the influence of the Texas country tradition in its heartfelt performances.
  6. Sep 29, 2011
Concrete is gritty but so watered down by contemporary Nashville arrangements that nothing sticks.

Sunny is the brightest new talent in country music. She stays mainstream with this album while also being very unique and different. Her voice is great, and this album is one of the best albums of the year. Full Review »
