  1. Gore's reworkings sparkle with visceral emotion, aching vulnerability, and sublime intensity.
  2. The downside of Counterfeit2 is its uniformity.
  3. This record is a high-quality package of music that will keep most DM fans happy, but is not exactly earth-shaking in any way.

Gore's brittle choirboy voice lacks the depth and grandeur of Gahan's, but he still gamely takes on some adventurous choices. [Jun 2003, p.108]
  5. The problem lies in Gore's lack of emotional and musical range.
  6. Gore is almost too polite to these songs, but surely that can be forgiven when his love for them is so apparent.

While his taste is textbook classic, his arrangements are not. [May 2003, p.104]

Martin Gore of Depeche Mode fame does covers of his favorite songs. How cool is that? While few songs suffer from a lack of emotion, most are Martin Gore of Depeche Mode fame does covers of his favorite songs. How cool is that? While few songs suffer from a lack of emotion, most are very beautiful and relaxing. The best songs are "Stardust", John Lennon's "Oh My Love", and "Lost in the Stars", which sounds like it came right off of Broadway. If you're looking for the electronic music of Depeche Mode, you won't find it here, but if you're looking for beautiful ballads that remind us of older days, you have come to the right place. Expand
