  1. He's got relationship problems so depressing that he thinks calmly about killing himself. Yet even that doesn't stop him from saying what he has to say in under three minutes, with a catchy tune to help the time pass.

The stories are typically droll, but the accompaniment is solid, sturdy, old school country played by veterans who know how to keep things tight yet loose.

For all of Fritz’s humorous lyrical twists, his strongest moments here often are when he doesn’t hide his feelings behind funny lines.

His songs are funny clever, rather than funny ha-ha, making Dad Country a serious business. [Jul 2013, p.105]

The man formerly known as Jonny Corndawg paints a richly redneck milieu--a greasy truck stop, a married woman’s disheveled bed, a backyard littered with post-debauchery debris--but something about the way he wallows in that white-trash decadence is offputting, even a little ugly.
