Daisy - Brand New
Daisy Image
  • Summary: This is the fourth full-length album for the Long Island, New York, rock band.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 9 out of 12
  2. Negative: 0 out of 12
  1. Recovering emos Brand New have taken doing things their own way to the point of invisibility, but their journey into the widescreen ether continues with yet another breathtakingly accomplished record.
  2. Daisy may lack the immediate accessibility of Brand New's previous efforts, but once it grows on you, good luck getting it out of your head.
  3. It's certainly a digression from what they could easily have done, and that was something they, obviously, really needed and wanted to do. But it also feels like a regression from the promise and charm that they once exuded.

  1. The natural progression from TDAGARIM, brilliant album structure and songs such and Vices, Sink, In a Jar and the haunting Noro make this a must buy. Best listened to as a whole the album is a Journey only tainted by the 'radio single' At The Bottom, easily the worst song on the album Expand

Daisy isn’t isn’t half as good as people pretend or invent. Anyone that knows something about music besides this decade knows that Brand New is more like Brand Old right now. This is Brand New’s impersonation of Nirvana’s In Utero with some Modest Mouse throw in the mix, but different than their previous records – where The Smiths/Morrissey influences work beautifully – it’s their biggest flaw to me: I can’t help but think about Nirvana and Modest Mouse while listening. And how they’ve done before and way better. People saying that this is better than Thrice’s Beggars or any of Brand New’s previous are down right retards. In short: Shitty record is shitty. Epic fail, Brand New, way to go. Now Jesse, start working on a solo record asap and blow us away, will ya? Expand
