  1. JSBE fans will recognize this rechristened and evolving Blues Explosion and are very likely to enjoy it just as much.
  2. 100
For pure intensity and soul, Damage is now THE album in the Blues Explosion catalog, and essential listening at that.
  3. Mojo
    80
As overdriven and mutated a noise as ever they've managed, Damage also retains Blues Explosion's trademark sweat-drenched feel for soul. [Oct 2004, p.101]
  4. New Musical Express (NME)
    70
None of [the guest producers] manage to shift the band far from their roots--an intense punk Elvis growl that's impossible to replicate. [16 Oct 2004, p.49]
  5. Damage is a far cry from the stripped-down screech that made these guys famous. In its contrast, it calls out everything the Blues Explosion once was and now isn't.
  6. Spin
    75
Time and practice have made them a far more straightforward rock band. [Oct 2004, p.120]
  7. Damage is definitely more up-front about its hip-hop influences than past Blues Explosion records, but the core Blues Explosion identity remains intact.
  8. Urb
    70
Thankfully, the results are still pure Blues Explosion. [Jan/Feb 2005, p.94]
