Daniel Bachman is the guitarist's most emotionally complex and stylistically integrated work to date. [No. 137, p.53]

This is an intriguing album that doesn't allow the listener the placid, breezy experience that some instrumental albums permit.

It takes nothing for granted. The guitarist accounts for every sound and impression from his instrument and surroundings here, allowing the listener deep inside a sound world at the moment of its creation.

Bachman proves himself an extremely resourceful player, as well as a masterful storyteller. [Dec 2016, p.25]

He’s almost literally stopping to smell the roses, and the result is an album about growth and development, about the virtues of taking your time rather than the crutch of constantly sprinting forward. In the process, it advances Bachman’s oeuvre significantly.

For all of its harshness and grit, Daniel Bachman is an elegant, personal work, a letter written cozily from the hearth of modern country music, its ink smudges and scrawl an affectionate indicator of the hands that wrought them.
