NseEMar 15, 200310This is a beautiful cd. "Daybreaker" and "Concrete sky" are 2 different but beautiful examples of the styles on it.

MickRNov 7, 20025I luv Beth, but really am disappointed with this disc. Her two previous album plus her EP is a must, but I wouldn't recommend this one to my friends....I don't think Ryan Adams is very talented and his noncreativity is rubbing off on Beth. I hope she doesn't become one of those artists who get major airplay on Dawson's Creek.

TomT.Aug 7, 20028Although it is hard to follow a really good CD, I think Beth has remained true to her roots... and sings like she means it!!

JonBSep 12, 20078this CD is a departure from her previous two. I probably would have rated it around a 3 or 4 when I first heard it. But I dusted it off recently and have come to enjoy it very much. I think the sound and mood of this CD is an acquired taste and may take repeated spins to fully appreciate it's moody quality.

80Orton has a flair for penning languid, spacious songs whose forlorn characters seem as adrift as the music's fleeting acoustic guitar chords and absentminded piano tinkles.

Yeah, shes sticking with the formula that got her going six years ago, but when it actually works, why bother messing with it?

40Tortoise-pace strumming and a crippling shortage of choruses produce only torpor. [Aug 2002, p.131]
