  • Summary: This is Ecstatic Sunshine band member Matthew Papich's debut full-length release as Co La.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 3 out of 5
  2. Negative: 0 out of 5
  1. Jan 23, 2012
    80
As with most of these tracks, the effect is cumulative, and if Co La's modus operandi at first appeared to be almost flippant, the resulting music is inescapably hypnotic. [Jan 2012, p. 52]
  2. Dec 14, 2011
    70
It's a bit like an imagined hodgepodge view of the pristine tropics, like plastic palm trees, or drinking at a tiki bar in the middle of a snowstorm.
  3. Dec 14, 2011
    62
Aside from one surprising flip of "Be My Baby", Papich doesn't seem as interested in transforming his source material as much as just presenting it.
  4. Dec 14, 2011
    60
Where it is intellectually interesting, it may not be aurally satisfying.

Daydream Repeater isn't a mind-blowing debut, but it's one that brings together working strategies to hit some solid notes.
