This record takes the styles of 2 of my favourite "jangle pop" bands of the 80's (REM and The Smiths in case you are wondering) and fuses them together using a 2010's powertool. That said, there are a few highlight, "It's Real" being one and "Green Aisles" is a trip in itself but the whole album is a lesson in sitting back with your substance of choice and leaving the music wash over you. My favourite Real Estate record. Expand

While the adjectives "revolutionary" or "exciting" don't belong in this review, Real Estate's second LP, "Days", captures the feeling of "floating on an inner tube in the sun" just as well as the first. Distorted and layered guitars make for a very comfortable album that grows on you with each listen.

Beautifully peaceful. I really love the music in this album. The guitars sound wonderful. The vocals and lyrics are also great. Nearly every track here is as gorgeous as the one preceding it, with very few exceptions.

Pretty, delicate, melancholic, with the right amount of aching and hope, and beautiful guitars throughout in each song this is an accomplished little album.

Goes down smooth like a milk shake on the deck one breezy summer day. It can be a bit boring for some, but just sit back and enjoy it for a while. You wont regret it.

I had mixed feelings about Real Estate's debut, I thought it was merely alright. So, I had lowered expectations for "Days" and I think that was a blessing because this album has slowly grown on me. I love how the guitars sound on this album. [An album that] makes you wonder where they will travel next. [Nov 2011, p.101]
  2. A beautifully hazy indie pop record, perfectly suited to hot summer days.

If an album's ever demanded the description "plangent" or "mellifluous", it's here. [Dec. 2011 p. 128]
