Real Estate set itself up to falter by comparison, but Days pulls off the impressive feat of earning that company [of Beach Boys' Today, the Byrds' Notorious Byrd Brothers, and The Shins' Oh, Inverted World].

If an album's ever demanded the description "plangent" or "mellifluous", it's here. [Dec. 2011 p. 128]

In just two very natural albums, the dudes from Ridgewood, New Jersey, have managed to ensconce the indie ethos better than anyone has in quite a while, and the time of their season is right now.

The sound might be crisper, but ultimately on Days, the song remains the same.

Days is a step in the right direction, but we're hoping they can challenge themselves to do something greater on album three.

It is unremarkable to the point of being enraging.

Distorted and layered guitars make for a very comfortable album that grows on you with each listen. Expand

Album number has more vocals and lyrics than their debut and is all the better for it. This album is an overall mood I could get into rather than a set of standout songs I can rave about. That said, there are a few highlight, "It's Real" being one and "Green Aisles" is a trip in itself but the whole album is a lesson in sitting back with your substance of choice and leaving the music wash over you. My favourite Real Estate record. Expand

So, I had lowered expectations for "Days" and I think that was a blessing because this album has slowly grown on me. I love how the guitars sound on this album. "Out of Tune" is the highlight here, but nearly every song is a winner. The record has a late 80's college rock vibe and reminds me a lot of the Go-Betweens. Good stuff! Collapse
