still can't make up my mind about this release, in comparison to the other songs: ohia albums. its quite dark, and not as uplifting as say, the lioness (easily my favourite release) but it doesnt sound quite good, although initially a shock, with the fuller band sound and the backing vocalists.

My favorite album of all time. Blown away by every single song. Flawless. Heartbreaking.

  1. Didn't It Rain may be simplistic compared to its more eclectic and haunting predecessor ['Ghost Tropic'], but it evokes the world-weary tones of Neil Young's 1970 masterpiece After The Gold Rush. [Jun 2002, p.86]
  2. Easily the most satisfying Songs: Ohia album since Axxess & Ace.
  3. Contains enough stunned wonder and insular grit to entrance the more hidden nooks of your unconscious for months. [#34, p.64]
