Dalle sounds comfortable, confident, and liberated on Diploid Love, and she gives listeners a more complete portrait of her artistry along the way.

While several songs do need an editor--"Dressed In Dreams" in particular drags quite a bit--the record's honesty and vulnerability are inspiring.

This is the first time she has really let go and experimented, and she's pulled it off with aplomb. [Jul 2014, p.97]

Dalle’s return performance, no matter how energetic and strong musically, lacks the lyrical details to latch onto.

The firebrand guitarist has teamed up with a veritable gang of pals to create an album that's pulls no less punches than her earlier work--if a little more thoughtful.

It’s an admirable attempt at maturity, but Diploid Love drains the energy from Dalle's music, along with its heart.

Diploid probably has some ace songs, but you'll need an industrial belt sander to uncover them. [No. 109, p.55]

Diploid Love doesn’t suck, but neither is it revolutionary.

It’s a graceful evolution and one that rocks just as hard as the squalling fury of The Distillers ever did.

Dalle has her bite back. [Jul 2014, p.104]

Dalle lets her voice flicker to an airy glow, with jittery strings providing the tension guitars might have in the past. Clearly, she never really needed an amp to unleash her strength.

It's a riotous and brazenly euphoric form of rock'n'roll.

Dalle sounds as if she’s on autopilot for much of Diploid Love; she’s obviously got talent to spare, but she’ll need to provide herself with a sterner challenge than she has here if she’s to truly capitalise on it.

Dalle's first record under her own name recalibrates bravely.

Diploid Love presents Dalle's strengths in combining melody and muscle as a highly desirable brand. [Jun/Jul 2014, p.95]
