A lot of the songs are solid hits in the making.

An intoxicating brand of synth-pop that's slicker than a Gordon Gekko coif.
  3. 70
    Mostly: total bliss session.

They are a band who want to form a real lasting connection. Diver only sporadically does this, but this is still an album that shows vast promise.

Diver completes Lemonade's transformation from jerky, banger makers into wistful, all-encompassing pop sophisticates. That it was done so flawlessly makes it such a triumph on their part.

True to its titular subject, Diver constitutes a daring leap for Lemonade, one that, at times, appears destined to result in a belly-flop, but recovers nicely in the end.

Big grooves, smart beats, it's all technically on-point, but it lacks an original pace or narrative-pretty much neutering any melody or songcraft from the get-go.

Diver's appeal is immediate, its effect short and sharp. [Sep 2012, p.104]

It's amicable, it's friendly for the shoes, but it's like watching a mud-covered wild horse frantically kick at the locked barn doors.

It's assuredly the group's most congruent outing, and for nice background music that's not overly engaging or challenging, Diver will satisfy your needs.

Diver isn't a whole lot more than a potentially thought-provoking record rife with as many missteps as it is original ideas, helping it emerge as just above average.

Diver is depressingly one-note, trimming back the band's scope and muscle. For some reason, Callan Clendenin sings every line in the same tiring, vacant croon, and its charm fades with each track, as does the Garageband-style production.
