Album proper or not, there's no denying this is greatly entertaining stuff.

When he's not trying to satisfy different demographic demands, Snoop returns to his roots to create a laissez-faire funk full of laid-back raps and Jheri Curl groove.

Snoop has been paying dues for two decades and change now, so he's earned the right to be a brand, an icon, a television star and most of all a rap legend. "Doggumentary" won't tarnish the polish on his O.G. status.

Navigating this 21-track session is the hard part, but once fans do the necessary trimming and pull out their favorite 14 or so, Doggumentary becomes a fine addition to Snoop's catalog.

More than many of Snoop's recent efforts, Doggumentary has something of a sonic identity.
  6. He barely has to try and, to be honest, here it shows.

Far from a behind-the-scenes veil-lifting, though, 'Doggumentary' largely ensures that the worst preconceptions of self-indulgent hip-hop remain in place.

However, this album is good as long as you take the songs you want, and filter out the **** Wet is a disgrace to Snoop Dogg, however, there are songs like El Lay, This Weed Iz Mine, My Own Way, there are pretty good songs. This album had the **** been cut out would of been perfect. But I think all Snoops albums have always been that way. LISTEN TO IT, DONT LISTEN TO THESE CRITICS. Expand

Snoop Dogg cannot seem to sell records as of late, but that doesn't mean that he isn't putting out some decent tracks. Let's face it, youSnoop Dogg cannot seem to sell records as of late, but that doesn't mean that he isn't putting out some decent tracks. Let's face it, you aren't going to buy a Snoop album to be blown away by his rhymes. The guy never changes his style which is why he's good. I think he'll be chasing Doggystyles success until he's 80 but that's okay. The album is a good one. There's a time and a place for everything I think and there's always time for a little bit of the Doggfather. Expand

The album is way too long, ironic thing is as well that half of the album is great, half is trash, the LP should have been cut in half, I mean You go from Gangbang Rookie (Great) to the likes of Boom and Platinum (Absolute trash). It's actually very sad because when Snoop hits the mark, he's better than he has been for over 15 years and then before you know it, you're listening to Wet (Which is right up there with the worst of them!) A big chance missed hear Snoop, THANK GOD he didn't stick with calling it Doggystyle 2. Expand

Doggumentary is essentially an album made up of singles, and it covers all bases from Pop (Wet, Boom ft. T-Pain etc.) to some LA rap even, *gasp*, "Country"
(Superman ft. Willie Nelson). For real Snoop fans, myself included, Gangbang Rookie (ft. Pilot), El Lay, Take U Home and Eyez Closed. Take U Home features Too $hort, Daz and Kurupt, which definitely brings back memories of Dre's "the Chronic", but this particular song has a new feel to it and I seem to be one of the few who enjoys it. The best song on this album has to be Gangbang Rookie. It has a great beat (beats are one of the few things that shine through on this album) and the young "Pilot" adds a new dimension to Snoop's flow on this track. For those looking for more Doggystyle, this isn't it, but Doggumentary does have some merits, and for those keen for some new Snoop, I would suggest just picking a couple of singles instead. 5/10.
