With elements of Afrobeat, house and indie rock, E Volo Love is an assured affair, [Feb 2012, p.107]

E Volo Love has a strong onomatopoeic power, suggesting mystery, enchantment and romance; all properties this terrific and charming record has in spades and shovels.

Whimsical waltzing and barefoot stomping, warm 'n' fuzzy resurrections of soothing old-tyme indie-baroque-pop shimmies for sunset revelry, splashed upon buoyant, Northern African-influenced rhythms and shining with the silky gloss of a keyed-up, Eastern-Euro-tinged lounge sashay.

It's not a deep, demanding album, but it is a pleasant, often charming listen.
  5. E Volo Love may seem oddly relaxed at first, but acclimatising is a breeze.

It will surprise no-one that they sound more natural and free when they sing in their native French tongue, but the tracks sung in English are far, far beyond any vowel-rolling cliché and are actually rather sweet and touching.

The album occasionally forces longing for something more grounded in sobering reality, but it's the romantic view of France that it exudes which will capture the hearts of those from these isles.
  8. Much like a good wine, the album mellows out and becomes better.

Overall, even through the rough spots, this is a project deserving of full attention.

The best moments ion this latest from Francois Marry come with added West African sparkle. [Feb 2012, p.86]

    Charming, then, but lightweight.

The result is something of a mixed bag: moments of tender and enduring beauty broken up by landfill indie pop with a French accent.

  1. What distinguishes Francois & The Atlas Mountains from the competition on the album "E Volo Love", is mainly using the native French language - frankly - sounding a lot better than the lousy English accent, which unfortunately has been used in most of the material. And to be honest, it's the only accusation of the album. All songs are in fact distinct compositions in lethargic maintained climates, reminding the British group ??Bombay Bicycle Club. Also positively. Full Review »
