  1. One of the more vocal complaints about The Weeknd's second mixtape was its lack of immediacy, which Echoes of Silence certainly outgrows.
  2. Jan 12, 2012
It's an impressive consolidation of his strengths, tightening up his songwriting and sharpening his often disturbing wordplay.

Tesfaye's velvety melodies infuse his trippy minimalism like incense smoke, getting lost only on the too-woozy title track.
  4. Feb 3, 2012
House of Balloons is still his finest hour to date, but Echoes of Silence comes damn close to it.
  5. Jan 3, 2012
A strong finish to Tesfaye's first trilogy, providing just enough closure to satisfy, and just enough mystery left to entice us back for the next round.
  6. Jan 3, 2012
A completely brilliant beginning to what hopes to be a long and bright career.
  7. Jan 10, 2012
It's Tesfaye's total commitment to his ghastly persona that makes Echoes Of Silence so entrancingly chilling.

Fantastic end to the trilogy of mix tapes, a great insight to relationships with women, drugs and depression. Great production : Great lyrics : Great emotion. It has a fitting tribute to MIchael Jackson which the King of Pop would be proud of. A one to watch in 2012. Full Review »

House of Balloons was dark, Thursday was darker, and Echoes of Silence is the darkest of all. Echoes of Silence was the most anticipated mixtape of winter 2011 and it brought what the fans been craving from him; his breathtaking voice (reminiscences the King of Pop, Michael Jackson), the creative chaotic beats, and the eerie mixture into R&B. Let me just say that nothing will ever beat what the House of Balloons ever had. My personal favorites from the mixtape were......well, all of them. Full Review »

Just incredible how much creativity has come out of this guy in 1 year. This album completes the trilogy in a fitting fashion. "Initiation" has to be one of the coolest songs in years. Full Review »
