Surprisingly beautiful, this album is pastoral folk that reminds me most of a male version of Judee Sill, especially on the vocals. I think this is the kind of album that will age well.

This is sweetly strange and often emotional music--an album of disquieting tone poems and outlandish lullabies.

The result is unexpected; thick, major label-backed, acoustically driven independent pop songs with a folkish tinge, laced with soft electronics and David Bryne-like vocals. BBC Radio 2 beckons.

The result is an album that’s likely too oblique for mass appeal, but that should be treasured both by anyone who has a taste for these kinds of self-contained, gorgeously appointed sonic miniatures and by Underworld fans who appreciate Hyde’s dreamier poetic side.
