Unfortunately, Marina used to be an amazing artist. The Family Jewels was perfect but Electra Heart is something really weak. I expected more from her and I got only two good songs from this album.

Marina can expose any excuse but there isn't a good reason for made this album like she made it. Her voice and the really annoying electronic pop music make a incredibly nasty combination, there are some good lyrics which are ruined with the rest of the song/album. The somophore album of Marina Diamandis is just so terrible. Mostly the album talks about love, but the thing is that Marina fails on giving a love album based on a concept. Terrible lyrics that can be seen in Primadonna, but aso good ones on Fear and Loathing and Buy the Stars. I cannot appreciate this album because is just not my taste

This album is not very different from her previous record "The family jewels". Even though the melodies improved, the songwriting is still weak and sometimes even weird. Diamandis is trying to expose the artifice of big-box pop music by using its own voice, and despite the obvious trappings of the concept, she does a fairly respectable job.

Marina Diamandis rivals Katy Perry for catchy hooks, commands with the swagger of Gwen Stefani, and even comes close to the ethereal vocal exhilaration of Florence Welch.

Electra Heart sounds high on concept, low on songs. [Jun 2012, p.108]
