We have to face it. The whole entire Electra Heart persona is basically just an excuse to make music that's more marketable than the Family Jewels. I know her occasionally-deluded fans don't want to admit it, but it's true. I think even Marina wants to convince it to herself at this point.

As a teenager, it is easy for me to relate to this album and to its meaning. The idea of an "alter-ego theme" album is appealing, and the lyrics of the album are meaningful enough. At least that is what it seems. "Electra Heart" starts horribly: "Bubblegum **** is an annoying combination of childish cliches: "I'll chew you up and I'll spit you out/

Marina has the idea of what is what she wants with her music. She has her own style; her own way to compose and a big voice, everything is reflect in this album. Certainly she needs to take a change in the rhythm of her songs to do not become a boring singer.

Though I am huge fan of the singles from the album, I think that "Electra Heart" falls short of what could have been... apparently "Primadonna" is indeed the diamond in the rough...

I think this is the worst album of Marina, although I love her. Looks like she was trying to be a mainstream pop artist and she failed :| Songs like 'Bubblegum **** and 'How to be a Heartbreaker' are terrible. Anyways, the album has a good concept and story. I'm 100% sure that american criticians gave it a negative review just because she 'insulted' the american culture.

Electra Heart is Diamindis' best album to date, however that does not mean that it is amazing. Bubblegum is a strong opener to the album however the standard of the songs fluctuate throughout the album.

It's actually a very likeable pop album. Catchy to the core, very interesting lyrically and produced by some of the worlds most in-demand producers - it's pretty much everything you wanted from a 2012 pop album. Unlike many, I don't have a problem with the fact that she went for more of a commercial sound. I have a problem with the fact she could have gone even further. If you're going to make a mockery based pop album, go all out, go louder, go more insane, get more cheeky. 'The Family Jewels' proved she was more than capable of creating an intelligent album that points out flaws in todays industries. Electra Heart feels a little scared of itself. A little reserved. It's still a passable, modern and fun album though that's very much worth a spin or ten. Expand

Electra Heart feels like an overambitious project no one in Marina's team cared about at all, except for her, which ends up with the album trading a fully-realised version of a very interesting commentary about female standards and their effect on mental health for immature teenage tumblr appeal.

it's okay, there's no any excuse about this album, it reflects her plastic-gummy career as well. it means that she is searching despairingly a proper/choppy hit, but failed into it.

canciones favoritas: teen idle, power & control
canciones menos favoritas: hypocrates, lies, radioactive

sinceramente creo que lo pudo hacer mejor. el concepto es algo complicado de entender y la temática superficial que maneja no es la más adecuada. mis canciones favoritas son power & control y teen idle

Diamandis is trying to expose the artifice of big-box pop music by using its own voice, and despite the obvious trappings of the concept, she does a fairly respectable job.

Marina Diamandis rivals Katy Perry for catchy hooks, commands with the swagger of Gwen Stefani, and even comes close to the ethereal vocal exhilaration of Florence Welch.

Electra Heart sounds high on concept, low on songs. [Jun 2012, p.108]
