  1. Definitely a worthwhile buy for those new to Engine Down and certainly must hold a place in any Engine Down fan's CD book, iPod, or whatever it may be.
  2. Alternative Press

Sounds like a holding-its-own companion piece to Quicksand's 1995 swan song Manic Compression. [Nov 2004, p.142]
  3. Via a confluence of experience, ambition and glossy production, Engine Down have arrived at a palatable music that, with a little more refinement and promotional support, could cement their place in the mainstream cultural canon.
  4. Comparisons to popular artists such as Sparta and Thursday are apt, as is the fact that the record's seed might find purchase on rock radio.
  5. The band's style has clearly altered, but the transition is graceful, making Engine Down another enjoyable release.
  6. It’s sad when a band runs out of ideas.
