The album certainly sounds fresh and is hallmarked by Spigel's knack of shaping memorable pop melodies out of a few notes or chords. [Dec 2012, p.85]

Every Day Is Like the First Day is quite the enjoyable late summer/early fall release, and one that's beguiling and fascinating in equal measure; a record that should define Spigel as a genuine artist in her own right, and not merely a significant significant other of one of Britain's greatest rock musicians of the late '70s.

The new solo album from Musician and visual artist Malka Spigel is an exceptional collection of dreamy post-punk soundscapes that are driven by strong bass lines and adorned with beautiful, heavily accented vocals. [Aug/Sep 2012, p.113]

It would be nice if they [her lyrics] cut through the music a bit more clearly; its richly textured blend of strings and electronica is attractive, but would stick better if it balanced its drift with a bit more assertion. [No.91 p.59]
