Confounding, yet worthy of recognition, Everybody Down is a sound release, with Tempest possessing potential to be truly great, once the logistics are shored up.

Tempest is an epic talent, definitely, but this doesn’t quite nail it down.

I have only until recently discovered Kate Tempest, and I can only say that I am impressed with her historical knowledge and modern (yet humbly sophisticated) language and writing. Also, her unique voice, compounded by her vernacular, is nice to listen to. To address the musical side, the album provides a unique sound— not UK grime; not American rap, but an interesting and inviting mixture between classic hip-hop, slow-paced DnB beats, house synths/FX, and simple storytelling. I highly recommend listening to this album. Full Review »
