Having already been feted by everyone from Thom Yorke to Mark Ronson, this second album arrives with an infectious gait that's nigh-impossible to resist. [Nov. 2011, p. 140]

Keeping such a schizophrenic affair entertaining and connected is a feat in itself, and Spank Rock's second album shows that, despite long odds, Juwan can succeed on his own terms.

It's a bold, brash, varied, slightly confused dance record with flashes of hip-hop.

Employing a variety of producers, Everything undertakes a cathartic reinvention via late-night, sex-driven trips through dim, sweaty basement parties.

If there's a guiding spirit here, it's 1980s Prince: wildly funky pop music led by an impressive creative hard-on.

You gave it a listen, and it sounded like a good time. But deep down you know you didn't actually have one.

There are some other strong tracks on this album, including Santigold's guest spot on "Car Song," and "Energy," which sounds like a lost Talking Heads song. There are also several that are either forgettable or downright bad.
  8. Well, these things are relative, and this record is still jam-packed with purest filth and unrepentant excess.

There are some noteworthy moments where brilliance is glimpsed, but this album seems to be maintaining the status quo rather than sparking a revolt.

For the most part, we're just not feeling Everything. [#82, p. 60]

After hearing Everything Is Boring, it's hard to imagine most listeners mustering up any anticipation for another go around with an artist who first squandered away all of his heavy buzz through dormancy and then came out of hibernation to release an album devoid of interesting ideas.
  12. Spark is right about one thing at least: this album is boring, and everyone who says otherwise is a fucking liar.

The edge that sparked Spank Rock's best moments back in the day either isn't there or flails around without direction.

I love these guys! There are some weak songs on this album but for the most part it is epic. Highlights are Car Song, Nasty and The Dance. Proper bangers!!! Also, this guy loves **** and ass, you should know that. Full Review »
