  • Summary: The sophomore album for the two rock legends was released digitally on their Web site, with a physical CD due later in the fall.

  1. Everything that Happens Will Happen Today is the product of one of the better collaborations that modern music has known.
  2. Byrne's singing was never exactly the first thing you loved about him--he so often has the high-pitched blankness of a sustained yawn. But he sounds lovely here, age bringing a surer and rawer tone along with more confidence in his question mark.
  3. While Everything is firmly grounded in Eno and Byrne's previous work, their mutual commitment to musical exploration ensures the album rarely sounds like something we've heard before.
  4. It's an enjoyable listen in the here and now, which is all an album has to be, even when created by giants.

It’s a modest record, but also the first Byrne album in decades to feel sprung from outside the ex-Head’s head space.
  6. Everything That Happens Will Happen Today may be an album of subtle pleasures, but they are pleasures all the same.
  7. Thirty years after first collaborating on the Talking Heads, these two don't have to mine the past since there's nothing that remarkable about Everything.

The funny thing is that it sounds like a mix of early Eno pop (Warm Jets et al) with late Byrne's Talking Heads, and it works to me. Won't be a hallmark as Life in the Bush of Ghosts but will remain as another example of a good work by Eno. Everything this man touches becomes....good. Expand

In their decades-long careers, Eno and Byrne have not exactly been strangers to experimental and niche musical territory but, at the same time, they

Going into this record, I expected two rock legends to dish out an album of epic proportions. What I received wasn't exactly that, but stillGoing into this record, I expected two rock legends to dish out an album of epic proportions. What I received wasn't exactly that, but still a solid collaboration between Byrne & Eno. Eno still pumps out fantastic synth beats and catchy hooks while Byrne still has the lungs to belt out some great tracks. All In All, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today is a good record. I personally prefer the collaboration between Annie Clark & David Byrne. Expand
