Exercises is elegant, welcoming, if somewhat melancholic. [Oct 2012, p.95]
  2. A Canadian producer who manages to strike a balance between the sturdy emotiveness of pop and the shimmering beguilement of ambience.

This majestic medley of eight 'exercises' is a fine display of creativity, where morphing piano loops sound like the modern classical of Philip Glass honed into a structured formula.

The result leaves the listener with less of a sense of control and more of an experience controlled by someone who knows exactly what they are doing.

It isn't difficult to imagine that in a few years time, he'll already have a few masterpieces under his belt. Fortunately, while Exercises doesn't reach that level, it comes close enough to keep everyone not only interested, but invested.

Although it lacks the beat-oriented, build-and-release formula of his best work, Exercises is elegant, textured, and cerebral enough to be an excellent after-hours soundtrack.

Exercises is chilly, spacious, and oddly out of time.

It can become background music all too easily: while Silver's work will always have a degree of ambience to it, Exercises can completely disappear from your consciousness if you don't pay enough attention, especially during the last few tracks.

    Well-constructed, sophisticated, relaxing, and pleasant.

Shows that CFCF aspires to be known as a serious artist, not just an electronic one.

Exercises, is a downcast and reflective paean for the '70s underground. The chamber-piano infused into these eight experiments is sometimes utterly heartrending-those pulsating synthesizers sound like they could pump blood and breathe oxygen.

Don't expect any club bangers or hot remixes. But the exciting part is that, in Silver, it's starting to look like we might have a true composer on our hands.
