Despite these interesting diversions, Exits & All the Rest is just a bit too straightforward to gain the plaudits of the more experimental Warpaint, but it's still a vibrant record that cleverly recaptures the spirit of their influences while remaining quintessentially Girl in a Coma.

While it might have been nice for the band to settle on one distinct style, Exits & All the Rest is a rocking, gritty, and yet uplifting and poppy, affair that is well worth hunting down for those lamenting the long lost sound of a woman named Polly Jean.

All the Rest later blurs into trio clamor, cathartic but in need of compositional improvement, which has thus far proved Girl in a Coma's cross to bear.
