This sh*t is intended to be the soundtrack to fun, and listening to the individual tracks is indeed a lot of fun. Color bursts from the edges of every track, and most carry no interest in subtlety or dynamic range. The production pops like a seismic charge.

Snorting basslines and Middle Eastern-flavored honks lay the groundwork for the squalid lyricism on Express Yourself.

Express Yourself is an excellent return showing that Diplo has saved enough creative juice for himself and, despite the whole host of guests featured throughout, the EP feels very much like Diplo's party.

Express Yourself is not a wholly bad collection of songs; half of them showcase Diplo's characteristic ear for taking disparate pieces and creating a coherent whole... [Yet] the EP derails during its second half.

The EP is a solid example of Diplo's work but it's definitely not his masterpiece. Collapse
