She has a keen, finely honed pop instinct all her own.

When the production and the outside songwriters stay out of her way, Bowersox expertly works the territory between folk and country.

I love her melodies and have to say, I really like the songs she writes without anybody else best. I'm looking forward to seeing Crystal's career blossom. I do prefer songs like Holy Toledo, Farmer's Daughter, and Speak Now, that have a folky sound to them. I prefer that to the more country sounding songs but all in all, this is an excellent debut. Her songwriting is honest and thoughtful, a refreshing change from the typical post-Idol fare. Crystal might not blaze up the charts with her old-school sounds, but her future is very bright if this album is any indication. Full Review »
