J5 undoubtedly finds themselves in a sticky situation. If you ask someone with little to no knowledge of the hip-hop scene, usually the one respectable name they might be able to throw out is J5. Make no mistake, Feedback is not Quality Control, J5 Ep, or even their most recent release prior to this, Power in Numbers. No wonder why Jurrasic 5 released it with the title FEEDBACK. It is J5 undoubtedly finds themselves in a sticky situation. It is unfair and silly to criticize this album with the argument that it is not "as good" as their prior releases. Let's take Feedback for what it is. The album is consistent, and it maintains the positivity and insightfulness J5 is known for. "Different parts of the picture highlight the same frame," exclaims Tuna on the track Work it Out. J5 plays an vital role on the hip hop scene, being one of the only groups that may be able to cross back and forth between the two banks many of us have labelled "underground" and "mainstream." In the end, good music is good music, and Feedback is, at the least, deserving of being called that. If you haven't heard J5 before this would be a wonderful album to get your feet wet before you dive into their classic stuff. It's all there waiting...buena suerte! The worse thing Jurassic 5 have ever put out. The excellent "Quality Control" now sounds like a distant memory. Avoid.

This is the first CD I have heard this year that I really consider terrible. It was incredibly annoying even on the very first listen. In general, I dislike when people write bad reviews, but folks need to know to avoid this one, and hopefully they'll turn it around with the next record.

This is my first time listening to J5 but I think this album is really good for all the shit its getting. I dont typically like more than 2 0r 3 tracks on an album and this one has at least 5. the beats are sick and it deserves to be listened to.

i don't know how people can give this a bad rating, there music is unique i don't need a critic sat on his ass all day to tell me it's a bad album. it doesn't perhaps have the best song they have ever made on it but every song is good there are no throw away tracks that you find on 99% of rap albums.

A fun, breezy effort that recaptures the tone of "Quality Control". Only overstepping there boundries on a few tracks, "Feedback" is a welcome return for Jurrassic 5.

My favorite tracks are 5, 6 and 9. It would be a 10 if it weren't for being so short (less than an hour) and track 3, which sounds more like a latina female's song with guest rappers J5 (à la BEP). That last instrumental track caught me off guard; I like it but never thought I'd hear a guitar laden instrumental on a Hip-Hop CD.

It is not the best Jurassic album, but it has a lot of great tracks on it. The first single, "Work It Out", is the worst song I have heard in awhile from this area of hip hop. On the other hand, there are several that have really gotten me to bob my head along. Tracks like "Gotta Understand" and "Radio" are classic Jurassic 5 beats and rhymes. It has been 4 years, so I would be upset if they put out another PIN or QC. I think that the group took my favorite elements from their last albums and just upped the ante, from the funk samples to mike trading and harmonizing. I have listened to this album for the last five days straight, so... I am a definite fan. Expand

Ok J5 have been one of my favourite groups for some time and I've never had a bad word to say about an album they've released until now. This album has about 4 or 5 decent tracks(although none outstanding) on it but the rest is nowhere near the J5 standard we have all heard in the past. The track with the Dave Matthews band is terrible and should have never been heard by any living creature never mind included on the album. Now the major problem I have is Brown Girl produced by Scott Storch. This is possibly one of the worst tracks ever to pollute my ears, as far as I'm concerned J5 have lost all credibility by including this track on the album. Scott Storch and J5 may possibly burn for all eternity in the fiery pits of hell for creating such a musical monstrosity. I have liked most J5 albums in the past, Power in Numbers had a couple of dodgy tracks but compared to this new album I would have to say its a masterpiece. I would avoid buying this album unless you're an avid J5 fan. This will do nothing to impress you its just mediocre pop to say the least. I know it must be difficult for the band without Cut Chemist on this album but it just shows you how much of an influence he must have been on their previous releases. J5 make sure the next album is worth the wait and stay clear of talentless guest producers please. Expand

So damn disapointing. I knew something would be missing with Cut Chemist leaving, but I didn't know it would be THIS bad. The worst part is that they're STILL rapping about the old school and how mainstream rap is trash. Yes, you've mentioned that for the last 9 years. How about saying something new?

I had thought this album was going to be about dinosaurs or something, but it isn't. Maybe an album where the band members pretend to be dinosaurs and sing about like prehistoric stuff and have a good time. I was very dissapointed when I realized this is basically just some guys rapping and not like dinosaur rapping or saber tooth tiger rapping either. There are a few unexpected surprises, but still a great album. J5 does not disappoint and it's great to hear some good hip hop to get around all the crap that has been put out lately.

DMB is an interesting addition to their sound, don't exactly think it is their best sound. But there are many tracks to appreciate on this well-rounded album that doesn't nearly deserve all the bad reviews. Check it out yourself, it's worth it

I agree, this is not PIN, but is a solid J5 album. I also agree, it is far too short. But, J5 has also produced as good a product as the rap industry has to offer for many years, and this is no exception. If you have the patience to enjoy a second and third listen, the wonderous subtilties of this gem will illuminate and inspire many spins around the club and the house!!!

Not nearly as good as the first two albums. The tracks lack emotional impact and rapping sounds like a rehash of other artists styles. However, Canto De Ossanha rocks.

Much of the same, if you want to listen to a J5 album, just pick up Power In Numbers. It is a catchier more solid effort, that is not to say that this album is not worth buying, it is just nothing really new, in fact it could be a b-sides to their last effort, because the sound is exactly the same, just not quite as good.

Their lead single has one of the worst artists ever on it. The only real reason to actually LIKE J5 (Cut Chemist) left. There is no variety on the tracks--every vocalist has his piece on every song, leaving no room for anyone to stand out. To top it all off, Scott Storch produces. I should mention that I like hip-hop/rap, and I liked most of "Power In Numbers". Ghostface Killah's Their lead single has one of the worst artists ever on it. Ghostface Killah's "Fishscale" is better than this, Mr. Lif's "Mo' Mega" is better than this, hell, even though The Street's "The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living" sucked, it still had a few good beats in its system. Therefore, I would say, in response to Tom B's claim that "Feedback" cuts through the crappy output of...something (I assume hip-hop/rap, but he could be talking about pop music as a whole, too), that "Feedback" is disguised as a wonderful throwback to the good old days when all that mattered was your ability on the mic. In truth, this is just "The Massacre" for potheads. Expand

J5 "jumped the shark" with this one. Loved their previous efforts, but "Feedback" feels hurried and like the product of a lot of strife in the band.

A bit short, but I love their track "Word it Out" with Dave Matthews Band. There are only a couple of songs on this album that I don't like. This was the first J5 album that I ever bought and listened to though, so maybe thats why i'm giving it a higher rating than the rest of you. I guess i'll check out their older stuff.

W.O.E. is me. Truly. What happened to my favorite Hip Hop group? For years I have loved and had incredible faith in J5, and I feel as though I have been stabbed in the back by my brother when I listen to this album. Ugh, so disappointing.

This album is worth more than a 51. Obviously the critics who gave J5 a lower score than a 70, don't like their style of music. If you like Jurassic 5, and their unique sound, then you will like Feedback.
