  • Summary: The quartet featuring Margaret Wienk releases its third album, which was recorded on a 24-track analog tape.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 4 out of 6
  2. Negative: 0 out of 6
  1. Throughout the album, glimmers of invention and humor are allowed to shine through.
  2. It’s a wonderfully full realization of the many aspects of Margaret Wienk’s abilities, as a songwriter, as a musician, and as a storyteller.
  3. There's a pronounced chamber music feel to much of the instrumentation, particularly with the liberal use of cello and violin drones, as well as harp accents. Often it's darker and tougher, however, than some other artists who follow similar lines.
  4. 60
Fern Knight is a delightfully creepy homage to Celtic-Appalachian tradition, and a compelling subversion of traditional folk structure.
  5. Under The Radar

A strong, consistent album, the band succeeds in creating a dreamy air, so much so that it makes me want to nap. [Summer 2008]
